What are we doing in ASEAN?
New Zealand has committed NZ$10 million (2020-2025) in funding to ASEAN activities in the Initiative. They are improving the agricultural greenhouse gas inventory, building capacity, increasing networking between science and policy communities, and regional research projects in six countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Viet Nam).
Regional Measurement Hubs are being established in the Philippines and Vietnam with the equipment and expertise to measure emissions in the region. The Hubs enable these countries to act as regional champions, supporting others in the region. Improved measurement equipment has also been installed in Laos and Cambodia.
Status: As of February 2024, research, training, and inventory improvement activities are underway in all six partner countries. Improved measurement equipment has been installed in Laos and Cambodia. Regional Measurement Hubs with advanced equipment and trained professionals have been established in the Philippines and Vietnam, enabling them to act as regional champions and support neighbours.
