GHG Measurement Quality Assurance Training workshop

March 2025

As part of the New Zealand Climate Smart Agriculture Initiative, a three-day training workshop ('Quality Assurance for Livestock Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Measurement'), was held 4-6 February 2025 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños-Dairy Training and Research Institute (UPLB-DTRI). The training was jointly led by the Philippine and Vietnam Greenhouse Gas Measurement Hubs and organised by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA). This training marked a significant step forward in enhancing GHG monitoring for sustainable livestock management in Southeast Asia. It brought together 17 participants from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and the USA, fostering regional collaboration on livestock GHG management.

This initiative was supported by the New Zealand Government's Climate Smart Agriculture Initiative and the University of California, Davis. The workshop helped enhance participants' skills in operating and maintaining GreenFeed™ units. GreenFeed™ is an advanced system that measures methane and other GHG emissions from individual animals. New Zealand has supplied GreenFeed™ units to Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines
